Scary clown is keeping himself entertained and the Losers’ Club assembles in new images provided to EW

With just weeks to go before the new adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” hits theaters, two new images from the horror film, exclusive to Entertainment Weekly, have hit the web for your amusement (or terror). In the first, we get a new glimpse of scary clown/demon Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard), looking not remotely evil at all (just kidding). And in the second, we see an atmospheric shot of the Losers’ Club, the group of misfit kids who take it upon themselves to stop Pennywise in 1950s Maine. See them both below.

Here’s that shot of Pennywise.

About the character, Skarsgard tells EW that Pennywise is essentially out to amuse itself with whatever unsettling form it takes. (The creature appears as whatever is most terrifying to his prey, but prefers looking like a clown.)

“It truly enjoys the shape of the clown Pennywise,” says Skarsgard, “and enjoys the game and the hunt. What’s funny to this evil entity might not be funny to everyone else. But he thinks it’s funny.”

Skarsgard also says that the entity is bizarre 24/7. “It’s weird all the time. Pennywise does thing that make absolutely no sense, but they’re very disturbing because of the weirdness.”

And here’s a look at the Losers Club.

Stephen King IT Losers Club

Directed by Andres Muschietti from a script by Cary Fukunaga, Gary Dauberman and Chase Palmer, “It” stars Skarsgard, along with Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Lieberher, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor as the Losers’ Club. The New Line horror film hits theaters Sept. 8.
